There was only one word that could describe Green-Leaf. Amazing. The warmth that the sun offered and the sweet smells that filled the air were things Larksong wished could stay. It was a time of plenty and the season itself simply brought with it a sense of comfort. And, it brought with it a number of bugs to chase after. While many only saw such a thing as kit's-play, the she-cat saw the activity to be both greatly amusing and something that could be of value. Warriors were known to be the hunters and protectors of their clans, but there were times when they were laying around doing nothing. And, what better way to keep one's abilities sharp than jumping after a small insect. With her tail swaying from one side to the other, the she-cat crouched before a a soft green grasshopper.
Her bright, icy blue eyes remained firm and focused on the six-legged creature, her ears laying flat against her skull. But, it seemed that something from behind her had grabbed the grasshopper's attention. Probably one of the other warriors or maybe even an apprentice had padded by. But, whatever it was, it made the insect tense and prepare to leap off in some direction. So Larksong was quick to react. With a loud, joyous laugh, the she-cat jumped at the grasshopper, her paws outstretched to capture it. The bug was already prepared, though. With its legs already locked into position, it only needed to release the building tension before it launched itself off to the side, narrowing missing the grasp of the feline. With her 'prey' escaping, the supposed warrior gave a protesting, but amused yowl as she twisted herself to the side. The movement had thrown her sharply off balance, though.
With a grunt, Larksong tumbled over her own paws, landing in a heap on the ground. That didn't stop her from trying to capture that blasted bug, though. Fumbling around on her paws in order to get herself back up, she failed to notice that someone had stepped in her path. And, without warning, Larksong went barreling into the other's form, sending them both rolling onto the ground.

Billy had awoken early one morning, stepping into the bright light of the forest, the smell of freshness surrounding him and awakening him. He had set his goal on hunting, as he had been told that if he joined a patrol he would get his ears cuffed. That had been last night during the assignments and he felt a twitch grow as he padded through the forest, the dawn so beautiful against his pelt he pressed two paws forward before he leap and killed the mouse.
Next his paws padded back the way he came, mouse dangling in his jaws and then the sound of chirps brought his ears to perk. His whiskers twitched as he placed his paws against the base of the tree and raced up. His silence brought an ease as his claws sank into the branch and suddenly, he and the bird were on the ground - the bird dead. A smile on his face as he bent down, whiskers brushing against he ground as he padded threw the entrance of camp and into the camp.
He could hear paws brushing against earth and then suddenly there was someone barreling into him. His catches were thrown from his mouth and his massive body stumbled as well, his paws catching under each other and the tall and large fluffy tom fell ungracefully onto the ground beside the she-cat that had startled him off balance.
Billy slowly rose to his paws, his whispers twitching as he moved to help the she-cat up. 'Larksong are you alright?' He asked, eyes wide as he purred to the she-cat. His leg out to help the she-cat out.

Without warning, a loud laugh erupted from the she-cat's throat as she laid there on her back. She hadn't even expected anyone to come up anywhere near her. Most of the other warriors tended to shield away from her when she was in her playful, immature moods. It seemed that no one her age ever wanted to do something fun with her. Playing with balls of moss or chasing after bugs was looked down on when someone of her age preformed such antics. It was what separated her from the others, but it wasn't something she took shame to. No, in fact, Larksong saw it as a gift. So many cats became so strict and serious once they became warriors that they seemed to just forget to have fun altogether. In her mind that was what made life worth living for! To have fun in life and live it to its fullest.
After a few moments of seemingly never ending laughter Larksong finally took the time to look up at the cat she had ran into. Or, more accurately, plowed through. Opening her bright blue eyes, the she-cat grinned up at the tom, her ears lowering faintly in embarrassment. "Yeah, I'm fine," she said as she climbed back onto her paws. "But, I should be the one asking if you're okay. I am so sorry about that." But, despite her apology she had a wide smile on her lips. Her tail swayed calmly from side to side as she watched the tom.

He heard the younger she-cat laugh, a good sign in his book, and honestly her grin was reassuring as well. He bowed his head when she appeared slightly embarrassed. Honestly, clan cats appeared on in his book, even through he had lived here most of his life. His whiskers twitched at that memory as well. The slow gain he had been given from when he had joined at fourteen moons, to when he had became a warrior late into his twenty-some moons. His eyes fluttered shut at his warrior ceremony, cats chanting the name he had, had from the beginning and he couldn't help but feel more proud. He had earned his title that day, not a new silly name.
'Yeah, I'm fine.' His whiskers twitched, he believe the she-cat of course, it was the simple fact that she seemed to ignore his offered help. He placed his paw down and nodded his reassurance that he believed her, tho he would get Robinsong to do a quick check of the she-cat later. He wasn't a soft pillow any cat could run into, he was muscle and that meant it hurt. But his own smile drifted to his face upon the she-cat's question. 'But, I should be the one asking if you're okay. I am so sorry about that.' He noted the smile, and his own grew. Many cats had grown used to him - but he remembered a time where they hadn't trusted him.
Those days had been hard. Sure he had saved Robinsong and Lizzardstar's son, but that had been by accident, he had never knew his true intentions until he had helped his old mentor and the tom back to came. It had been a shock and honestly he had never been more grateful for his silly mistake. Now, twenty-some moons later, he had gained most of the cat's respect, which he had striven to earn so many moon ago, and here he stood - the she-cat was calm around him, something he remembered was not the case back when he was younger and the she-cat was probably not even born.
He had been a scary looking cat, but honestly - his heart was golden. 'All is forgiven, it is good to see warriors reliving their youth.' He meowed, lifting himself to his paws. 'I caught a sparrow and a mouse, would you care to share the sparrow?' He asked, looking at the younger she-cat with a curious expression. The she-cat seemed to be so lively, and playful and Billy himself had been all about work since a young age. His whiskers twitched as he got to his paws, and picking up his shattered catch, putting the mouse on the fresh-kill pile and going to settle down.

Since the moment she could open her eyes, Larksong could remember Billy being there. She could remember the days he would come into the nursery to play with her and the other kits or the times when he would watch over them while their mothers went out to relax. He had always been a kind, gentle tom and she had always believed that despite what her mother would constantly tell her. The she-cat had heard many rumors about the tom from her mother. How he wasn't clan-born or the son of rogues. She could still remember the warnings her mother would give her to keep away from him. But, the she-cat had never listened to such things. As far as she was concerned, Billy was just as grand and as loyal as any clan-born cat could ever be. She had been one of the few in the clan to instantly latch onto him.
When she had been nothing more than a small kit, Larksong had tried to play with him or even just simply be around him. And, he had taken care of her. In a way she saw him as a sort of older brother. It was something she still saw in him even now. While, yes, he was a very kind and caring tom, he had never exactly been the most amazing playmate. He would accommodate her playful antics, but hardly initiated any sort of play himself. Ears pressing forward, Larksong smiled brightly at his words. That was another thing that she both loved and appreciated about the tom. He was one of the few in the clan who actually didn't berate her for her kit-like behavior. Many of the warriors and elders simply looked down on her for her manners, constantly scolding her for acting like such a kit. But, Billy had never said anything harsh and cold about it.
"I do believe you only mean warrior,"
she said in a bit of a teasing tone, her tail flicking to the side. "None of the others like to play with me or even try to." |
Her smile faltered faintly at this, her whiskers twitching as her tail looped around to her side. Her bright blue eyes remained on the earth beneath them for a moment before her mind once again returned to reality. Looking back up at the tom, her smile was quick to return at his offer. "Of course," she cheered, happily padding up behind him. "So, what have you been doing before I so graciously ran you over." [/sub][/blockquote][/blockquote]
